Get familiar with how to navigate on CodeHS

Navigation Overview

The CodeHS site navigation is designed to provide an intuitive and efficient layout, making it easier to access the tools and features you need with fewer clicks. Tools are organized into dedicated apps, each tailored to specific workflows. Whether you're grading, tracking student progress, or managing assignments, everything is exactly where you expect it, helping you streamline your workflow, enhance productivity, and reduce time spent searching for functionality.

App-Based Interface and Design

Much of the navigation uses the top nav bar to quickly switch between related tools. See the example of the updated Gradebook page below:

  1. We've selected Gradebook from the left-hand navigation bar. This brings up the Gradebook App where we can view, update, and configure student grades.

  2. Use the drop down menus to switch between different Sections. You can also select individual students to view grades by student.

  3. Related tools for the Gradebook are listed across the top nav. Click here to switch between different tools or settings pages.

Need Help Finding a Tool?

Using the Search Bar

Located on the top navigation bar, this is where you can search through all the tools and pages in your account:

Using the Toolbox

All of the available tools are listed in the toolbox. Tools are organized under their respective headings, and you can keep a list of favorites or see recently visited tools under Recent. More info on the using the toolbox

Where did it go?

How to find some specific pages which have moved with the new navigation update:

Access Controls + Due Dates Tool

The Access Controls + Due Dates Tool are now located within the Configure App. Access it by clicking Configure from the left-hand navigation menu:

QOTD (Question of the Day) Scores

This is now located in the Quizzes App:

  • Under Grading (left-hand nav), Click Quiz Scores > then go to QOTD Scores

  • More on QOTD

Google Classroom Assigner

Pushing assignments from CodeHS to your linked Google Classroom is now located in the Google Classroom App.

Accessing the Google Classroom App:

  1. Navigate to the Configure App in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Select Access Controls and Due Dates

  3. Use the drop-down menu to select a Google Classroom Section

  4. Select the Google Classroom App link

Course Syllabuses

Find course syllabuses in the Course Catalog. Click on Course Catalog within the Curriculum category of the left navigation menu, or click Toolbox > Curriculum > Course Catalog.

Student Showcase

Save and share student programs in one place. This tool is currently available through the search bar:
