πŸ’‘ In order for assignment grades to pass back, students need to launch each assignment from Schoology (i.e., exercise 1.1.1, exercise 1.1.2, etc.).

If you see any boxes that do not have the checkmark, that indicates that the student has not launched from Schoology, but they can do so retroactively to sync the grades.

You are also able to view checkmarks on the Single Assignment Grading Page. You can get there by clicking on any of the assignments from the Gradebook.

If you see that a student has launched an assignment, but the grade is not passing back, you can manually report the scores to Schoology.

If you're not sure if a student has launched the assignment, you can take a look at the Gradebook. In the Settings tool in the Gradebook, there is the option to show a flag on assignments that are linked to Schoology.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Check which assignments have been launched and which have not weekly. Some teachers like to have students spend time at the beginning of each semester to have students launch each assignment so that they are all linked from the start.

In addition to the teacher Gradebook view, students are also able to see whether they have or have not launched an assignment from Schoology!

From their homepage, students will see a list of assignments that have not been launched. As soon as they launch an assignment, as long as it has been graded, the grade will pass back from CodeHS to Schoology.

NOTE: Students will only see these notifications if you choose to include that type of assignment in your CodeHS Gradebook. Read more information about how to configure which assignment types are included in your Gradebook below.

They will also see a warning sign on any assignment that has not been launched, as well as a banner on the top of any assignment that has not been launched.

Some teachers do not want to include specific types of assignments in their Gradebook for a few reasons: you watch videos as a class, students are not completing any work in the examples and badges, etc.

If you would like grades for a specific assignment type to not be passed back from CodeHS to Schoology (such as videos, examples, or badges), follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Gradebook app

  2. Click on the Settings tab

  3. Uncheck any boxes for assignment types that you would not like to include.

Make sure to make this change for each of your sections!

πŸ’‘Tips for Schoology teachers:

Here are some tips to ensure teachers are set up properly on Schoology:

  1. Make sure your Schoology email matches your Google account email (if your school uses Google accounts) or CodeHS account email before you launch from Schoology

  2. Use Firefox or Chrome. Firefox's default cookie settings actually keep you logged in to CodeHS when launching from the iframe. If you are using Chrome, make sure you are not blocking cookies.

  3. Teachers should launch an assignment to create each Schoology section first, before students attempt to launch.

  4. In order for grades to be passed back from CodeHS to Schoology, grading will need to be enabled for all assignments in Schoology, and students will need to launch each assignment from Schoology.
