CodeHS Conversations are a great way to send messages to your students that aren't about a specific assignment. If you'd like to send a message to an entire section, check out our Announcements feature.

Conversations can be initiated by students or teachers. Once a message is sent, the recipient will see a notification appear in their Inbox along the top of the CodeHS page.

Accessing Conversations

  1. Go to the Toolbox at the top of the page

  2. Select the blue 'View Full Toolbox' link from the lower right corner of the menu

  3. Select 'view all tools' from the top (or bottom) of the page

  4. Scroll until you see Conversations

Sending a Message to a Student

  1. Go to your Toolbox> Conversations

  2. Click on the student you'd like to message

  3. Type your message and click Send!

Where Students Can Read their Messages

Students can read their messages by clicking on their inbox and selecting a message from you to read and respond to.

Email notifications allow teachers to receive an email when a student sends a message through Conversations or submits a Help question. To learn more about these settings and how to configure them for your sections, check out the full Email Notifications article.
