Student Groups Overview
Student Groups allow teachers to divide a section into smaller, more manageable subsets of students. This feature helps manage large rosters and focus on specific groups within tools like the Gradebook, Progress, and Quizzes.
Creating and Managing Student Groups
Creating a Student Group
To create a Student Group:
Create a Student Group by navigating to the Roster App.
Select the "Groups" tab
Click on "New Group"
Enter a Group Name
Click "Create Group"
Viewing and Customizing your Student Groups
The Groups tab in the Roster App includes information on your Student Groups and is where you can customize each group:
View how many students are in a Group
Change the Color of your Student Group by clicking on the Color Icon
Change the logo of your Student Group by clicking on the Student Group logo
Change the name of the Student Group by clicking on "Rename"
Add a Student to a Student Group
To add a student to a Student Group:
Click on the group you would like to add the student to
Click on "Add Students"
Search for the student and select the student's name
Click "Add Selected"
π‘ Note: A single student can be in multiple groups. Students cannot belong to groups across different sections
Remove a Student from a Student Group
To remove a student from a Student Group:
Find the student you would like to remove
Click on the "x" on the right side of their name
Delete a Student Group
To Delete a Student Group:
Click on the group you would like to delete
Click "Delete" on the right side of the group
Apps that Use Student Groups
Apps that use Student Groups will have a dropdown menu that allows you to choose a specific group to view. When a filter is applied to view a specific group, the filter will remain active in other apps until it is updated or cleared.
Roster App
Using Student Groups in the Roster App
Organize your roster and view groups of students' progress.
Each student in a group has the group icon displayed next to their name in the Group column.
A Group Key is also available at the bottom of the page to help identify each icon and display how many students are in a group.

Organize your groups to easily award badges to its members.

Realtime App
Using Student Groups in the Realtime App
View a specific group of students' realtime activity.
Put a single group or multiple groups of students in Focus Mode.
β οΈ Focus Mode cannot be activated simultaneously for multiple groups if the groups share any students (Even if Focus Mode is activated on the same exercise for both groups)

Organize your Gradebook by viewing a specific group of students.
Use Student Groups in the By Module tab, By Lesson tab, and By Assignment tab of the Gradebook App by adjusting the Group dropdown menu
