Course Overview

The Game Design in Unity course teaches the fundamentals of designing a game using Unity, the most widely accessed game editing engine in the world. The intent of this course is to prepare high school students with the industry-related skills needed for the workplace and higher learning environments.

This course teaches students the fundamentals of game design by using Unity's game engine. By the end of this course, students will understand the design planning process, be knowledgeable of industry related careers, and be able to navigate the Unity environment in order to create their own 3D games.

What's Covered in Game Design in Unity

The first semester course teaches students the fundamentals of game design by using Unity's game engine. The first semester course prepares students for the second semester course of Game Design in Unity (coming Fall 2021).

The second semester course continues with principles in Game Design using Unity. The second semester course will be launched in the Fall of 2021.

Prerequisites

Game Design in Unity is designed for high school students with a basic level of technical proficiency or exposure to digital design. Students do not need a background in programming.

Student devices must be able to download and install the Unity platform, available here: Download Unity from Unity3d.com. Installing Unity is covered in Module 3: Unity Fundamentals.
