Manage Student Accounts

From your Teacher Page, choose a section and click Manage Student Accounts at the top of the roster. On this page you'll see two things:

  • Each student's username and email address

  • The option to change any student's password

Change a Student's Password

If you have a student who can't access their account, you can update their password from your teacher account. Go to your Roster page, click the lock icon, and enter a new password:

Troubleshooting Tips for Student Passwords

Issue: Students Can't Sign In with Username and Password

If a student can't sign in with their username and password, have them try signing in with Google.

If you or your students created accounts with Google Classroom or with a Google email, your students will only be able to sign in if they click the Sign in with Google button:

If that doesn’t solve the problem, students can always click the Forgot Password button to reset their password and retry logging in with their username.

Issue: Login with Google Goes to the Wrong Account

If students are using Chrome, the browser can become associated with their Google Account, which will automatically log them on to CodeHS even if another student is trying to log in.

Students can solve this by signing out of their Google Account from the browser by:

  1. Clicking the three dots on the top right of the page > select Settings from the drop-down menu. The Settings page will open in a new window.

  2. From there, they should be able to click the triangle to the right of their name.

  3. Select Sign Out to remove the Google Account from the browser.

One way to prevent this is to have students use incognito tabs when they sign on to CodeHS by clicking the three dots on the top right of the Chrome browser > New Incognito Window. Please note that some schools disable incognito browsing on the network. If this doesn’t seem to exist, it’s most likely because your school disabled that feature.
