The ability to export CodeHS Quizzes in QTI Format is available to any teacher who has an active LMS integration with us. This feature allows teachers to export individual or all quizzes from CodeHS and import them into Canvas or Schoology!
Exporting CodeHS Quizzes and importing to your LMS allows teachers to take advantage of the LMS quiz options, including time limits, allowing multiple attempts and choosing which score to keep, and more!
★ Exporting an Individual Quiz
Teachers can export individual CodeHS quizzes or their own custom quizzes!
From your Assignments app:
Click "..." next to the quiz > All Settings
Teachers can modify Due Date and Availability settings which will be maintained when exporting and importing into Canvas.
Click to expand Advanced Settings:
Teachers can modify Quiz Settings under Advanced Settings which will be maintained when exporting and importing into Canvas.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Export
★ Exporting All Quizzes
❗ Teachers planning to export all CodeHS Quizzes in QTI format should remove any quizzes in CodeHS and your LMS before importing QTI format to avoid duplicates. |
Teachers can export all CodeHS Quizzes in a course at once from the Course Settings page. Teachers should do this after modifying all Due Date, Availability, and Quiz Settings.
Navigate to Courses app using the left side navigation bar
Click the gear icon next to the Course
3. Scroll down to Export to QTI (Beta) > Export
★ Importing QTI Quizzes to Your LMS
→ Importing QTI Quizzes into Canvas
From the Course in Canvas:
Select Import Existing Content in the right-hand navigation bar
Select QTI .zip file in the Content Type dropdown
Choose .zip file exported from CodeHS
Click Import
Viewing Imported Quizzes in Canvas
To view imported CodeHS Quizzes, navigate to Quizzes in the left-hand navigation bar.
Publishing Quizzes in Canvas
Teachers will need to make sure to Publish imported Quizzes so that students can access them. To Publish a Quiz, click the icon on the right-hand side of the quiz and you’ll see a green check:

Under resources, click Import
2. Choose Common Cartridge and import to a new or existing collection.
3. Click Next, and upload the file you just downloaded.
4. Add the imported materials to your course. You can do this from the collection, or
from the course's homepage.

You will see all of the quizzes in your course, and you can make adjustments from there.
