CodeHS now offers a PCAP Certification Prep course, designed as a companion to Advanced Python and AI Programming. The course is aligned to the PCAP™ – Certified Associate in Python Programming (PCAP-31-03) exam objectives. It helps students who already have foundational Python skills master intermediate topics and build confidence for the exam.

The PCAP™ – Certified Associate in Python Programming certification is an industry-recognized credential that measures a student’s ability to handle intermediate Python programming tasks, including object-oriented programming. It is the next certification after the PCEP™. The certification exam is administered by the Python Institute (OpenEDG) and assesses a student’s ability to implement the following concepts in Python:

Note: The PCAP exam is external and not administered by CodeHS. We recommend purchasing and scheduling the exam directly through OpenEDG.

A 33-hour course designed specifically for PCAP preparation. Rather than reteaching Python from the beginning, it focuses on the PCAP exam topics beyond those covered in Advanced Python and AI Programming. Each content area includes notes, worked examples, coding exercises, debugging practice, and quizzes. The course ends with an exam-day strategy lesson and three full-length practice exams that match the format of the real exam.

This course assumes students can already write Python at the PCEP level. We recommend teaching it after or along with Advanced Python and AI Programming. Students who are new to the PCEP-level skills can start with the PCEP Certification Prep course.

The course also includes a PCEP Refresher module, which reviews functions, classes, exceptions, file basics and list comprehensions. Students can complete it before starting the course or at any point they need a review.
