The AI Hints App on CodeHS is the app where you can manage and review all AI hint activity for your sections. You can control whether students can request hints from Karel AI, monitor how students are using those hints, and review the hints you've sent to students yourself.

To access this app, look under AI Category in the left-hand nav, then click AI Hints.

The AI Hints App features 3 tools that can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the page: AI Student Hints Settings, Student Usage Dashboard, and Teacher Hints Log.

The Student Usage Dashboard shows you how students are using AI Student Hints, you can view how often students are using hints, if students are relying heavily on hints, if multiple students or a particular student may be stuck on a specific assignment, etc.

You are also able to view the Conversation Threads between your students and Karel AI. Learn more about: Monitoring AI Student Hints

This tool controls whether students in a section can request hints from Karel AI while working in the Code Editor. AI Student Hints is off by default — you must enable it here before students can use it. Learn more about: AI Student Hints

The Teacher Hints Log gives you a record of the AI Hints that teachers have generated and sent to students from the Code Editor. Use it to review all AI generated feedback that was sent to students, as well as direct links to the assignment that the hint was generated for. Learn more about AI Teacher Hints
