AP CSP 27-28 Course Updates

Stay Informed with Course Updates and Training Resources for the new AP CSP course

Written by Billy Gotsch

You may have recently received a message from the College Board announcing planned changes to AP Computer Science Principles beginning in the 2027–28 school year. These changes include the addition of AI-focused content, a new AI Design Project, updates to the existing programming project, and changes to the AP Exam.

The CodeHS team is in communication with the College Board and are closely following the development of the updated AP CSP framework. While the official course framework will not be released until Fall 2026, our curriculum team is evaluating how these changes may impact instruction, projects, assessments, and classroom implementation.

As with previous AP updates, our goal is to provide teachers with a seamless transition to the new framework. We fully intend to offer an AP CSP course that is aligned to the redesigned requirements, along with the resources, professional development, and implementation support needed to help you and your students succeed.

Information for the 2026-27 School Year

Importantly, these changes do not affect the 2026–27 school year. If you are teaching AP CSP next year, you can continue using the current course and exam framework as planned.

We highly recommend the AP CSP Teaching Cohort, which will provide teachers with support for their 2026-27 AP CSP classes while also helping them prepare for the transition to the new course in Fall of 2027.
