At CodeHS, we are committed to protecting student privacy and maintaining the trust of the students, teachers, schools and districts we serve. This statement’s purpose is to clarify Artificial Intelligence (AI) use across the platform.

Data generated through student use of our platform—including code, responses, or activity—is not sold or shared for external AI model training. While CodeHS does not currently use data from the platform to train internal models, any such use in the future would be with de-identified or aggregated data.

Any use of data within CodeHS is limited to supporting platform functionality and improving the learning experience, and is handled in accordance with applicable privacy policies, contracts, and school or district preferences.

All AI-powered features within CodeHS are designed with privacy and control in mind. Schools and districts have the ability to fully disable AI features at any time, ensuring alignment with local policies and preferences.

AI-powered features at CodeHS are designed to support and enhance teaching and learning, rather than replace human judgment. For features such as grading and AI Creator, outputs include a review step before being shared, helping to ensure accuracy and maintain instructional quality.

CodeHS employees are trained on responsible AI use and data privacy practices, ensuring that security, quality, and student trust remain central to all tools and services.

We prioritize transparency, security, and compliance with student data privacy standards. CodeHS AI tools are implemented solely to support teaching and learning, without compromising the confidentiality or ownership of student data. All AI-powered features on CodeHS will always be clearly labeled as using AI so teachers and administrators can choose how and when to use these features.
