Ask AI App Overview
Ask AI is a teacher tool built into CodeHS that helps you quickly find information, explore course and curriculum options, complete common classroom tasks, etc. You can use the Ask AI App to get recommendations, compare courses, review standards alignment, and take action on tasks like assigning activities, all from one place.
You can access the Ask AI App by clicking on "Ask AI" under the "Classroom" category in the lefthand navigation menu:
You can also quickly access Ask AI in multiple apps across CodeHS through the Wand Icon at the top right of the screen or with the Ask AI button in the Search Bar.
Using the Ask AI App
Start a conversation with AI
Ask AI provides two ways to start a conversation. Click one of the suggested prompts or enter your own prompt in the chat box.
Start a new chat
Click "New Chat" to clear your current conversation and begin a new chat.
View previous chats
View previous interactions with the AI Helper by selecting a conversation from the lefthand panel. Each conversation is automatically titled to provide a brief summary of its topic and is listed with the date that the conversation started.
Student Data Settings
If you would like to allow Ask AI to access student data, click on the Gear Icon and enable the Include Student Data setting. Note: CodeHS does not share student data with any third parties.
What can Ask AI do?
Explore and discover courses
Find courses based on topics, grade levels, programming languages, or curriculum goals.
Search for courses aligned to standards, including state standards, AP, CSTA, and other supported frameworks.
Learn about a course, including the concepts covered, course structure, programming languages, and student projects.
Compare courses to better understand the differences in content and difficulty.
Browse course pathways to explore recommended multi-course sequences.
Explore elementary (CodeHop) courses by grade level (available with CodeHop access).
Discover Spanish-language course offerings and translated curriculum.
Find teaching resources
Access course resources, including syllabi, sample lesson plans, professional development, and other supporting materials.
Find tutorials to supplement classroom instruction.
Browse downloadable handouts and worksheets available for supported courses.
Discover programming projects by language to provide additional practice.
Find Power Ups and interactive classroom tools to enhance lessons.
Explore resources that are helpful for exam preparation.
Learn about CodeHS certifications, including aligned courses and approved states where applicable.
Assign and manage content
Assign lessons or modules directly from the chat.
Find additional lessons and activities that complement what students are already learning.
Review assignments that are currently assigned.
Open assignment pages and other relevant areas of CodeHS directly from Ask AI.
View and update assignment settings, including due dates, availability, assigned status, grading settings, and block/text coding settings.
Help you and your students in the classroom
Answer questions about your current sections and assigned content.
Recommend additional practice based on what has already been assigned.
Help locate CodeHS features and explain where to find them.
Search the CodeHS Knowledge Base to answer product and platform questions.
Explain lessons and programming exercises using Problem Guides and Solution Guides.
Review student and classroom data

Ask AI can summarize classroom and student information, including:
Student progress across assignments and sections.
Gradebook and quiz performance.
Academic Integrity insights, including plagiarism and time-on-task information.
Recent student activity.
Section activity trends over time.
Certification exam results for students.
AI Usage
Hover over the Ask AI Usage Bar at the top of the page to view your current token usage.
If you reach your token limit, you will not be able to use Ask AI features.
