Overview
AP Cybersecurity is a new, career-connected Advanced Placement course launching nationally in the 2026–27 school year. Designed as a broad introduction to cybersecurity, the course aligns closely with an introductory college-level cybersecurity class and prepares students for both postsecondary study and high-demand career pathways.
The AP Cybersecurity course introduces students to common threats and vulnerabilities, how those factors combine to create risk, and how individuals and organizations mitigate risk using defense-in-depth strategies. Students explore cybersecurity across multiple domains—including physical spaces, networks, devices, and applications—while examining real-world impacts on individuals, organizations, governments, and society. The course emphasizes hands-on, scenario-based learning and collaboration, with skills aligned to the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Workforce Framework.
To support teachers implementing this brand-new AP course, CodeHS is offering the 2026–27 AP Cybersecurity Teaching Cohort—a year-long professional learning experience designed to build confidence, content knowledge, and classroom readiness.
