Exporting CodeHS Grades to Schoology Using a CSV

This article is for teachers who want to export their CodeHS grades and import them into Schoology.

Step 1: Export Grades from CodeHS

  1. Go to your Gradebook app

  2. Click on Export > Schoology (CSV)

Step 2: Export Schoology Gradebook

  1. Navigate to your Course Gradebook in Schoology

  2. Click on the three dots(Schoology elipses) in the top right of the Gradebook

  3. Click on Export

  4. Select the Gradebook as CSV option

Step 3: Preparing the Schoology CSV File

  1. Create a blank Spreadsheet using Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, etc.

  2. Import the CodeHS Gradebook Export CSV File (from Step 1)

  3. You should now have a Sheet that looks like this:

  4. Create another Sheet and Import your Schoology Gradebook Export CSV File (from Step 2) (Easiest if within the same spreadsheet):

  5. At this point you should have two sheets within the Spreadsheet: CodeHS & Schoology (renamed in the screenshot below):

  6. Copy the Unique User ID Column in the Schoology sheet

  7. & Paste into the Student ID Column in the CodeHS sheet

  8. The CodeHS sheet should now contain all of the Unique User IDs

  9. Delete the Schoology Sheet

  10. Export only the CodeHS Sheet into a new CSV File

Your CSV file is now ready to be imported into Schoology!

Step 4: Importing Grades to Schoology

  1. Navigate to your Course Gradebook in Schoology

  2. Click on the three dots(Schoology elipses) in the top right of the Gradebook

  3. Click on Import

  4. Select the CSV file you created in Step 3 > Upload File

  5. Match the Unique User ID to Unique User ID from the Dropdown

  6. For each assignment:

    1. If you do not have CodeHS Content within Schoology, select New Assignment

    2. If you already have CodeHS Content within Schoology, select the Corresponding Assignment

  7. Click on Preview

  8. Review the import and click Confirm

Your Grades are now successfully transferred from CodeHS to Schoology!

Still not seeing any grades?

Grades in Schoology will need an Assignment Category and Grading Period. When New Assignments are created using a CSV import, you will need to complete the following steps to see the grades in the gradebook:

  1. Navigate to your Course Gradebook in Schoology

  2. Click on the three dots(Schoology elipses) in the top right of the Gradebook

  3. Click on Bulk Edit

  4. Give each Assignment a Category and Grading Period

  5. Click on Save Changes
