Tynker and CodeHS FAQ

Information for existing CodeHS and Tynker customers about the Tynker acquisition, including licenses, billing, support, contracts, and platform updates.

Written by Jeremy Keeshin

Overview

CodeHS acquired Tynker in May 2025. As part of the acquisition, Tynker continues to operate as a standalone platform, now supported by the CodeHS team. CodeHS and Tynker remain separate platforms and products, and licenses for one platform do not automatically include access to the other.

For Existing CodeHS Customers

Your CodeHS experience remains the same. Existing products and services, including CodeHop, continue as usual, and the CodeHS team is continuing to invest in and improve the platform and curriculum.

The acquisition also gives schools and districts additional options for K–8 computer science with both CodeHop and Tynker available as complementary elementary and middle school CS solutions.

For Existing Tynker Customers

Your current Tynker access, curriculum, and tools remain unchanged. Tynker continues to operate under the Tynker name and platform, with additional support from the CodeHS team across infrastructure, security, customer success, and support operations.

Below are answers to common questions for both CodeHS and Tynker customers.

What does this acquisition mean for CodeHS customers?

The acquisition expands the K-8 computer science options available to schools and districts. CodeHS now offers both CodeHop and Tynker as complementary elementary and middle school computer science solutions.

CodeHop is a K-6 computer science and technology platform with ready-to-teach lessons, structured learning pathways, and secure Scratch-based and ScratchJr-based programming environments.

Tynker offers a flexible K-8 student-led, gamified approach to coding that helps bridge the gap between block-based and text-based programming.
